RAD (Rape Aggression Defense) Self-Defense Class for Women at CSUSM

The University Police Department and Student Health and Counseling Services will be hosting the Women Self Defense Program Monday through Wednesday, July 20-22, from 3 to 7 p.m. The Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) System is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women.

The RAD System is a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training. RAD is not a martial arts program. Our courses are taught by nationally certified RAD. instructors and provide each student with a workbook/reference manual. This manual outlines the entire physical defense program for reference and continuous personal growth, and is the key to our free lifetime return and practice policy for RAD graduates.

WHAT: Rape Aggression Defense Basic Course WHEN: Monday, July 20, from 3 to 7 p.m. The course will be held on three days (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, consecutively). The dates are July 20, 21 and 22 from 3 to 7 p.m. You must attend all three class meetings. Some exceptions apply.

WHERE: Emergency Operations Center located across from the University Police Dept. at 441 La Moree Road (blue building in parking lot-K) HOW: E-mail cnguyen@csusm.edu or call (760) 750-4567. When you get to the room, please print your name on the sign-in list. An RSVP would be appreciated if you have not done so already. You can fill out and sign the registration forms once you arrive (please fill one out even if you have attended RAD System classes in the past).

If the student is a minor, please be sure to contact me for a form that must be signed by a parent/guardian before the first class. The charge for this training is a onetime fee of $20, unless you are a former RAD student. Former RAD students attend at no cost.
