With every healthy choice you make, YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!! Prevention of substance abuse and promotion of mental health starts with the choices that each of us makes in our own life. Through your personal healthy choices, you can set an example of health and wellness for other students. Your healthy behaviors help to prevent drug abuse and excessive alcohol use and promote mental and emotional well-being for those around you.
YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Are you up for the challenge? Help Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS) promote prevention among our Cougar community. Meet up with SHCS staff and peer educators at “The Clarke” for the 2013 Earth Day Wellness Fair, on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm at “The Clarke”. Your voice counts and your choices matter. Show your commitment to prevention and healthy living. It’s so easy! Stop by the SHCS tables at the Wellness Fair to:

Why take the Prevention Pledge?
Everyone can play a role in prevention and promote healthy living. Sign the Prevention Pledge to demonstrate your commitment to make healthy choices that prevent substance abuse and promote mental and emotional health in your own life and in our Cougar community. Take the Prevention Pledge and share it with others.
Why join the “I Choose” Project?
Your personal choices make a difference. What choice do you make for your personal health and well-being? The “I Choose” Project is a way for you to make a difference with a personal message for substance abuse prevention and mental health promotion. It’s easy to participate. Download and print the “I Choose” sign. Take a picture of yourself holding your sign with your personal message. Your personal message will convey what motives your healthy behavior. Your personal message can be about why substance abuse prevention or mental health is important to you. (Example: “I Choose … Prevention – Because Prevention Works!”). Or you can write a personal message about what motivates your choice for health and wellness. (Example: “I Choose … Exercise … for my health!”). Then, send your picture to firstname.lastname@example.org. Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS) will review and post your photo to the “I Choose” photo album. The “I Choose” Project will continue through May 18, 2013, in conjunction with National Prevention Week 2013. Visit the “I Choose” photo album frequently to see students, faculty and staff photos.

Unable to attend the Wellness Fair?
